The City of Boulder invites all employees who work in Boulder, regardless of whether they live in the city or not, to participate in the 2025 Boulder Valley Employee Survey. The online survey takes about 10 minutes to complete and is available in English and Spanish from Oct. 27 to Dec. 1, 2025. Results track progress toward city goals and inform future actions to improve transportation options available to employees.
Previous survey results have informed a shared e-bike and e-scooter program, led to a Clean Commute programto incentivize sustainable local commutes, supported Neighborhood and Business EcoPass subsidies, and evaluated the COVID-19 pandemic impacts on teleworking.
"Our community's economic, social and environmental health depend on safe, effective transportation options," said Transportation & Mobility Director Blythe Bailey, "Tracking how we're doing in supporting employee travel is essential to understanding our next steps toward a connected transportation network that helps Boulder thrive."
Some employers may have received a separate survey, which was mailed to a representative sample of the wide range of Boulder businesses. The open, companion survey is a new addition in 2025 that will ensure all employees have an opportunity to share how they commute to work and the factors that influence their travel choices. Results will be published in 2026.
The city has regularly surveyed Boulder employees since the 1990s, with a small portion of modified questions to understand new trends, such as the impact of evolving technologies like e-bikes and e-scooters. The most recent findings from 2022 suggest that the city is back on track to meet its transportation goals locally, with continued opportunities to collaborate on improving regional transportation.
