A Legacy of Care at OGH: New Orthopedic Surgeon Joins OGH Orthopedic Practice

Dr. Samer Al-Humadi, orthopedic surgery & sport medicine, is accepting new patients in Olean.

Olean, NY - Olean General Hospital (OGH), a Kaleida Health facility, is pleased to welcome Samer Al-Humadi, MD, an orthopedic surgeon specializing in comprehensive upper extremity care - arm, shoulder, elbow, forearm, wrist and hand - to its medical staff.

A native of Olean, Dr. Al-Humadi is returning to his hometown to care for the community that shaped him. Dr. Samer Al-Humadi follows in the footsteps of his father and brother, who have both been physicians practicing in the Olean community and at OGH.

"Growing up in Olean, coming back was an easy decision," he said. "The area's natural beauty and sense of community are second to none. It's important for me to give back to the place that instilled the values that made me who I am today."

Dr. Al-Humadi provides general orthopedic services and advanced upper extremity care, including shoulder and elbow replacement, arthroscopy, ligament repair and reconstruction and fracture fixation of the shoulder, humerus, elbow, forearm and wrist.

As a surgeon, he emphasizes whole-patient care. "A patient's recovery and outcome rest not only on the injury we are treating, but also on their overall health," he noted.

Outside of medicine, Dr. Al-Humadi enjoys skiing, ice hockey, running as well as both traditional and fly fishing. He also holds his father's legacy in the highest regard and is committed to providing the highest level of patient care. "I'm excited to re-establish roots in my hometown, and to use the skills I have acquired to contribute to the health and wellness of our community," he added.

Dr. Al-Humadi earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Virginia Commonwealth University School of Medicine in Richmond, VA. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at Stony Brook University Hospital in Stony Brook, NY, followed by a fellowship at the Oregon Shoulder Institute, where he specialized in advanced shoulder and elbow injuries. Dr. Al-Humadi is a member of the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, Orthopedic Trauma Association, New York State Society of Orthopedic Surgeons, AO Trauma and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.

Dr. Al-Humadi joins his brother, Mohaned Al-Humadi, MD, in the OGH orthopedic surgery and sports medicine practice on the first floor. OGH is located at 515 Main Street, Olean, NY.
