Downtown Bloomington has once again received official Illinois Main Street Accreditation, recognizing the district's continued success in strengthening Downtown through economic development, historic preservation, community engagement, and long-term revitalization efforts.
The accreditation recognizes communities that successfully implement the nationally recognized Main Street Approach through strong organizational leadership, business support, strategic planning, promotion, and preservation efforts.
"Downtown Bloomington continues to evolve because of the partnerships, energy, and investment happening throughout the district every single day," said Cordaryl Patrick. "This accreditation reflects the work being done by City staff, business owners, volunteers, community partners, and residents who continue helping move Downtown forward."
The City continues investing more than $500,000 annually into Downtown development efforts, not including the additional millions currently being invested into the Downtown for Everyone Streetscape Project. Downtown also welcomed 11 new businesses in 2025 and hosted 112 Downtown events as part of the City's 135 annual community events.
Despite active Streetscape construction, the first phase of the project resulted in zero business closures within the impact zone, reflecting the City's continued focus on communication, business support, and long-term Downtown investment.
Downtown Bloomington's Farmers' Market also continued its award-winning run, earning Best Weekend Activity, Best Community Event, and Best Place to Buy Fresh Produce in The Pantagraph's Best Of Readers' Choice Awards for the third consecutive year.
