New Chief Operating Officer Named for University Hospitals Elyria Medical Center

ELYRIA, Ohio - Sylvia Radziszewski, RRT, MBA, who has led UH Samaritan Medical Center for the past four years, has been named the next Chief Operating Officer of UH Elyria Medical Center.

Radziszewski began her career at University Hospitals more than two decades ago as a respiratory therapist at UH Cleveland Medical Center. She returned in 2022 to serve as President & Chief Operating Officer of UH Samaritan Medical Center in Ashland. Under Radziszewski's leadership at UH Samaritan, the hospital earned multiple Leapfrog A Safety Grades and was honored among Healthgrades Best Hospitals for Patient Safety.

"I am honored to join the team at UH Elyria Medical Center and serve the patients and families of Lorain County," said Radziszewski. "Throughout my career, I have been inspired by the opportunity to make a positive difference in people's lives through exceptional healthcare. I look forward to working alongside our caregivers to build on UH Elyria's strong legacy of providing nationally recognized, compassionate care close to home."

Radziszewski is no stranger to the healthcare landscape in Lorain County. She served in executive leadership at Mercy Lorain prior to joining UH. A graduate of Leadership Lorain, Radziszewski is familiar with businesses and industry in the area. She maintains her respiratory therapy license and continues to mentor young people interested in healthcare careers.

Radziszewski earned her bachelor's degree in respiratory therapy from Ohio State University and an MBA from Kent State University. She will begin this new role at UH Elyria in early August leading the hospital that has served Lorain County for more than 115 years.
