PRESS RELEASE BY THE OFFICE OF THE SPEAKER Speaker of the House of Representatives leaves Malta on an official visit to Türkiye

The Speaker of the House of Representatives Anġlu Farrugia today left Malta on an official visit to the Republic of Türkiye.

During his visit, Speaker Anġlu Farrugia will hold a meeting with his Turkish counterpart, H.E. Prof. Dr Numan Kurtulmuş, Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Türkiye. The discussions will provide an opportunity to further strengthen parliamentary diplomacy between Malta and Türkiye, explore avenues for enhanced cooperation, and reaffirm the commitment of both countries to dialogue and mutual understanding.

In addition to his official engagements, Speaker Farrugia will also attend and address the National Day receptions being organised by the Embassy of Malta in Türkiye. The first event will be held in Ankara, while the second will take place in Istanbul. These occasions will serve as a platform to highlight the enduring friendship between Malta and Türkiye, and to showcase Malta's values of partnership, cultural exchange, and international collaboration.

Speaker Farrugia's visit underlines the importance that Malta attaches to maintaining strong bilateral relations with Türkiye, both at the parliamentary level and through wider diplomatic, cultural, and economic ties.
