This week in Nairobi, along with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of Somalia and the Delegation of the European Union to Somalia, the Mission facilitated a Technical Assistance and Information Exchange, International Partnerships (TAIEX INTPA) workshop on Hybrid Threats, Disinformation and Cyber Influence in the context of Cyber Diplomacy.

This initiative familiarized the staff of beneficiary institutions with the general principles of cyber diplomacy and cybersecurity to tackle more effectively the issues arising in cyberspace. The workshop also aimed to strengthen Somalia's cyber resilience by enhancing personnel capacity in the field of Hybrid Threats, Foreign Interference, Cybersecurity, and national Critical Information Infrastructure Protection.

In parallel, the participants got knowledge related to the EU's legal framework on cyber issues and develop necessary skills to improve the national policies, strategies, and legislation specific to cybersecurity and foreign interference. In addition, strengthening cybersecurity governance and institutional coordination will contribute to securing critical digital systems and infrastructure relevant to maritime security, including ports, shipping, and underwater cable infrastructure.
