HARRISBURG - Legislation sponsored by Sen. Kristin Phillips-Hill (R-York) that would establish strict limits on commonwealth contracts to safeguard taxpayer dollars and maintain jurisdiction of state courts received the unanimous support of the Pennsylvania House State Government Committee.
"I am pleased to see this legislation moving in a bipartisan manner," Phillips-Hill said. "It is my hope that we will soon have these commonsense guardrails in place for the protection of taxpayer dollars."
"This is a good bill," Rep. Brad Roae (R- Crawford and Erie), who serves as the ranking chairman of the committee, said. "It passed unanimously in the Senate. I think that will be the case here."
Senate Bill 1410 was introduced at the request of Pennsylvania Attorney General Dave Sunday. The bill would prohibit state government from signing purchasing or procurement contracts that contain out-of-state legal disputes, indemnification clauses, non-Pennsylvania governing law, or binding arbitration.
