Vehicle stolen during break-in recovered by police, suspect arrested with hatchet: C26-130462

On June 2, 2026, the Winnipeg Police Service located a stolen vehicle from a residential break and enter in the Maybank area and arrested a 21-year-old man in possession a weapon, contrary to conditions of a probation order.

On June 1, 2026, at approximately 9:00 a.m., keys for a 2022 Kia Forte were stolen from a residence in the 1000 block of Boston Avenue during a break and enter.

On June 2, 2026, at around 11:30, officers with the Rapid Response Unit (RRU) were patrolling near Tache Avenue and Provencher Boulevard and spotted the stolen Forte parked under the train bridge. Officers took the suspect into custody and located a hatchet on the front seat of the vehicle during the arrest. He was turned over to the Property Crime Unit for processing.

Deshawn Joseph COLOMB (21) has been charged with:

  • Break Enter & Theft - Dwelling House
  • Theft of Motor Vehicle
  • Possession of a Weapon
  • Fail to Comply with Probation Order

COLOMB was detained in custody.
