Winter Storm Preparation: Free Sandbags Available at Thompson Park

As the rainy season approaches, Bellflower residents are encouraged to take proactive steps to protect their homes and property from potential storm impacts.

The City is providing free sand and sandbags for public use in the north parking lot at Thompson Park, 14001 S. Clark Avenue. Sandbags are an effective resource that can divert or block water flow, helping prevent damage to doors, driveways and low-lying areas. Keeping sandbags on hand before heavy rain hits can minimize flood-related damage.

Residents are reminded to bring their own shovel to fill and load sandbags.. Supplies are available on a first-come, first-served basis and are intended for residential use only.

In addition to picking up sandbags, residents are encouraged to clear gutters, drains and down spouts of debris, secure outdoor furniture and check weather forecasts regularly. Taking simple preventive measures can help protect both private property and public safety during periods of heavy rain.
