Tempe, AZ - A valley couple has been arrested after detectives say they stole a rare bottle of cognac worth thousands of dollars from a Tempe restaurant.
On Monday, May 4, just after 9 p.m., a man and woman were dining at Three Thirty-Three Restaurant when investigators say the pair began acting suspiciously shortly after ordering appetizers.
According to detectives, the woman allegedly stole a 750 ml bottle of Louis XIII Cognac, valued at approximately $4,000, while the man acted as a lookout.
The theft was captured on the restaurant's surveillance cameras, including images of the SUV the couple used to leave the area.
Through the investigation, detectives identified the suspects as 34-year-old Channel Miller and her husband, 32-year-old Matthew Steve. Investigators believe the couple may be associated with the Romanian Travelers criminal group, which is known to target businesses in theft and fraud-related crimes across the country.
On May 12, Miller and Steve turned themselves into the Tempe Police Department. They will be charged with felony theft, a class 4 felony.
Anyone with additional information related to this case is asked to contact the Tempe Police Department at 480-350-8311.
