Disclosure of Officers’ Names from the May 27, 2026 Officer-Involved Shooting Incident in Milton, New Hampshire

Concord, NH - Attorney General John M. Formella announces the identity of the police officers who discharged their firearms during a shooting incident that occurred during a call for service on Wednesday, May 27, 2026, in Milton, New Hampshire, in which Ryan Cantwell (age 37) was wounded by gunfire.

The officers who discharged their firearms during the incident were Farmington Police Sergeant Timothy Seawards and Farmington Patrol Officer Connor Sutherland, who had responded to a request for mutual aid made by the Milton Police Department. Sergeant Seawards has been a law enforcement officer in the State of New Hampshire for approximately eight years and has been employed by the Farmington Police Department for approximately two years. Officer Sutherland has been a law enforcement officer in the State of New Hampshire for approximately eight years and has been employed by the Farmington Police Department for approximately five years

Mr. Cantwell remains hospitalized and is continuing to receive treatment for his wounds.
