Tender awarded for construction of East Perth Primary School

  • Tender for state-of-the-art East Perth Primary School (planning name) design and construction awarded
  • Next phase of works includes building of the new school's classrooms and facilities
  • Vertical four-storey school to meet population growth in central Perth, with capacity to accommodate 600 students
  • Cook Labor Government investing in education and early childhood development

Work is moving ahead on the new East Perth Primary School, which will provide much-needed capacity for the growing number of families living in central Perth.

The major $165 million Cook Labor Government project has reached another key milestone, with the main design and construction works tender awarded to CPB Contractors Pty Ltd.

With a unique vertical design, the next phase of the build will see the construction of school facilities. These include kindergarten and pre-primary classrooms and play areas, general learning areas, specialist rooms for science, an art room, library, and canteen, as well as an administration area and amenities.

A school hall with access to music rooms, canteen and a room for out-of-hours school care is included in the project scope. Hard courts, rectangular green space and landscaped play areas within the heart of the school will be established.

The school will accommodate 600 students from kindergarten to year 6 and will relieve enrolment pressure on Highgate Primary School. It is expected to open its doors to students in Term 1, 2029.

The design allows for a future stage to expand the school to accommodate a further 200 students.

Project architects are EIW and ARM, with early contractor involvement provided by CPB Contractors Pty Ltd.

The East Perth Primary School forms part of the Cook Labor Government's commitment to delivering high-quality education infrastructure close to where Western Australian families live.
