On 9 March, Vice-Minister of Foreign Affairs Taurimas Valys began an official visit to the South American region, meeting with Roberto Salafia, Undersecretary of International Economic Negotiations at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, International Trade, and Worship of Argentina, and Pablo Lavigne, Secretary of Production Coordination at the Ministry of Economy of Argentina.
Ideas for cooperation in the field of energy, student exchange, development of the defence industry, and logistical projects were also discussed. It was agreed to work actively together towards concrete results: facilitating business engagement, networking, and mutually beneficial partnerships. The meeting also addressed geopolitical issues, cooperation in international organisations, and the need to continue supporting Ukraine in the fight against the aggressor.
In a meeting with Lavigne, Secretary of Production Coordination at the Ministry of Economy of Argentina there was discussion of the possibilities for strengthening economic cooperation. The meeting addressed trade, investment and the development of business relations. Possible cooperation initiatives in industry, innovation and high-value-added sectors were also talked about.
During the meetings, the Vice-Minister emphasized Lithuania's ambition to strengthen the economic partnership with the Latin American region, promote business contacts, and look for new areas of cooperation that would contribute to strengthening economic ties.
