COLUMBUS, Ohio - State Representative Monica Robb Blasdel (R-New Waterford) today announced that the Ohio Department of Development has released guidelines for the Ohio Brownfield Remediation Program.
In House Bill 96, Ohio's State Operating Budget, the General Assembly allocated $200 million for the program. As required by the bill, $1 million is reserved for applicants in each of Ohio's 88 counties and will be awarded via a merit-based process. The application opens November 12th at 10 a.m. and will close on December 5th at 5 p.m.
"This program gives local communities the resources to clean up long abandoned or contaminated sites and prepare them for new development," said Rep. Robb Blasdel. "By investing in brownfield remediation, we're helping turn neglected properties into opportunities for economic growth and community revitalization."
The Brownfield Remediation Program provides funding to help clean up industrial, commercial, and institutional brownfield sites that are abandoned, idled, or underutilized due to a known or potential release of hazardous substances or petroleum.
The Department of Development will host a webinar at 10 a.m. Oct. 28 to present the guidelines in detail and allow potential applicants to ask any questions.
