Wentworth Continues Climb in U.S. News & World Report Rankings

September 23, 2025

Wentworth Institute of Technology has made a significant leap in the latest U.S. News & World Report Best Colleges rankings, affirming the university's rising status and its focus on preparing students for careers with a high return on investment.

In the 2025 rankings, released today, Wentworth surged seven spots to #28 in the highly competitive Regional Universities (North) category. The achievement is further magnified by the university's long-term trajectory, marking an impressive climb of 34 spots since 2019, when Wentworth was ranked #62 in the same category.

"Our continued rise in these rankings is a direct reflection of our commitment to an education that is hands-on, career-focused, and transformative," said President Mark A. Thompson.

The priority of delivering a high-value education was also recognized in the Best Value Schools ranking, where Wentworth climbed to #41 in the region. The university's emphasis on its cooperative education (co-op) program and experiential learning continues to pay dividends for graduates entering the workforce.

To determine its rankings, U.S. News & World Report evaluates institutions on up to 17 different measures of academic quality. For the latest edition, the methodology placed a high emphasis on social mobility and student outcomes. Other significant factors include a peer assessment survey from top academics, faculty resources, and the financial resources a university dedicates per student.

Wentworth's Undergraduate Engineering program also earned high praise, securing the #38 spot out of 286 nationally among schools where a doctorate is not offered.

One of the most substantial gains came in the category of Undergraduate Computer Science programs, which saw Wentworth's ranking jump 33 spots to land at #274 out of 601 schools, placing it in the top half nationwide.

The U.S. News rankings arrive shortly after Wentworth was once again named to the Forbes "Top Colleges" list. And earlier this year, Wentworth earned a Carnegie designationas one of only five "higher access, higher earnings" STEM institutions in the country.

"We are dedicated to providing students with unparalleled experiential learning opportunities," Thompson said. "They are empowered to graduate not just with a degree, but with a clear path to real career success."
