In 2024, EU countries produced 4.4 million pairs of skis and snowboards, a 19% decrease compared with 2023. Almost 40% of these items (1.7 million) were produced in Austria.
Around 2.0 million pairs of skis and snowboards were exported to non-EU countries, a decrease of 19% compared with 2023 (2.4 million). In terms of imports, 1.2 million skis and snowboards were imported, a fall of 35% compared with the previous year (1.9 million).

Among the EU countries, Austria was the largest exporter with 0.9 million pairs of skis and snowboards, followed by France (0.3 million) and Germany (0.2 million). Austria also took first place as the biggest importer (0.7 million), ahead of Germany (0.2 million) and France (0.1 million).
Regarding exports to non-EU countries, around two-fifths of the skis and snowboards exported went to the United States (0.7 million, or 38% of total extra-EU exports), followed by Switzerland (0.3 million, 14%) and Canada (0.2 million, 11%).
Imports from non-EU countries originated mainly from Ukraine (0.4 million; 38% of imports), closely followed by China (also 0.4 million; 38%), Taiwan (82 000; 8%) and Switzerland (56 000; 5%).
