Escambia County is actively monitoring Hurricane Isaias, which is expected to bring life-threatening storm surge and heavy rainfall when it approaches the northern Gulf Coast on Friday. Residents are encouraged to monitor the forecast and have multiple ways to receive weather updates.
According to NOAA NWS National Hurricane Center, Hurricane Isaias is expected to make landfall along the northern Gulf Coast as a hurricane Friday night, Oct. 9, or early Saturday morning, Oct. 10. A Hurricane Warning and Storm Surge Warning have been issued for Escambia County, and local impacts may include damaging winds, life-threatening storm surge, high surf, rip currents, flash flooding, and tornadoes.
Escambia County declared a Local State of Emergency for Hurricane Isaias at a Special Emergency Board of County Commissioners Meeting this morning, Thursday, Oct. 8.
Evacuation orders have been issued for Zone A and Zone B effective Thursday, Oct. 8 at noon.
Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has declared a state of emergency for 25 Florida counties in preparation for Tropical Storm Isaias, including Escambia County. The Governor and the Florida State Emergency Response Team are taking precautions now to ensure Florida remains prepared for potential impacts.

Escambia County Emergency Management staff are actively monitoring 24/7 throughout this event.

The Emergency Operations Center is currently fully staffed and activated at a Level 1.

County staff are actively monitoring problem creeks and rivers.

Escambia County Public Works crews have inspected all county stormwater ponds and have drained water levels where necessary. Crews will continue to monitor stormwater pond levels throughout the week to ensure outfalls are clear.

Shelter locations will be open at 3 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 8 due to Hurricane Isaias.

Escambia County offices will close Thursday, Oct. 8 starting at 2 p.m. and will remain closed Friday, Oct. 9.

All Parks and Recreation games or events originally scheduled for Friday, Oct. 9 through Sunday, Oct. 11 hosted at Escambia County athletic complexes and parks have been postponed. Games and activities will resume next week unless otherwise announced.

At this time, the Escambia County Equestrian Center is not expected to open as an equine shelter as the county is in the path of the storm. Evacuees seeking an equine shelter should contact facilities outside of the storm's path.

Mayor D.C. Reeves has signed the emergency declaration for the City of Pensacola this morning.

Pensacola City Council has canceled its meeting planned for tonight.

The Airport Terminal to close at 10 a.m. Friday to commercial operations.

Airport Operations (Runways) will be shut down at 6 p.m. Friday until damage assessments/repairs/reopening. Expected Return to Operations - TBD Saturday/Sunday.

City of Pensacola Public Works remains in preparation mode, mobilizing equipment and re-inspect ponds and stormwater assets.

After-School programs will continue to provide service today. If early pick-up is possible, parents are advised to do so. However, Center staff will be on site until every child is picked up. There is no after-school programming on Friday.

Maintenance trucks and equipment are fueled and in place to be called out to support debris removal.

Open construction sites are secured. Loftis Marine will secure the Sanders Beach Seawall today.

The Emerald Coast Utilities Authority Customer Service Department will be closed Friday, Oct. 9, as a precautionary measure due to the potential impacts of Tropical Storm Isaias.

As Hurricane Isaias approaches the Gulf Coast and an evacuation order is issued for Pensacola Beach, the Emerald Coast Utilities Authority will temporarily shut down water and sewer services on Pensacola Beach once first responder emergency personnel have evacuated the island.
