Gulfstream Completes Installation of Largest Rooftop Solar Portfolio in Chatham County

Savannah, Ga., July 16, 2026 - Gulfstream Aerospace Corp. today announced the successful completion of the latest solar installation at its Savannah-based Research and Development Campus (RDC), creating the largest rooftop solar portfolio in Chatham County. The RDC at Gulfstream's worldwide headquarters now hosts five completed solar arrays supporting 620,000 square feet of facility space with the latest addition being a 2,700-panel system on its RDC III building.

The rooftop systems were installed by Atlanta-based Cherry Street Energy and have a combined generating capacity of 2.9 megawatts, producing more than 3 million kilowatt-hours of electricity annually. In total, the project offsets Gulfstream's RDC electricity usage significantly and reduces related emissions.

"Sustainability is embedded in every aspect of Gulfstream's business," said Mark Burns, president, Gulfstream. "We remain committed to helping advance business aviation's sustainability mission while enriching our communities through environmental stewardship and support. The completion of these solar installations represents another meaningful step in our commitment to the environment, further strengthening our position as a leader in sustainable aviation."

Sourcing carbon-free electricity is a central element of Gulfstream's sustainability strategy, which includes on-site solar generation and the use of verified renewable energy certificates. Gulfstream's site in Mexicali, Mexico, also uses solar panels to support renewable energy, enable on-site generation and reduce the company's environmental impact.

Gulfstream has long been recognized as a pioneer in sustainable aviation. The company was the first original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to fly on 100% neat sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) and was also the first OEM to receive National Business Aviation Association (NBAA) Sustainable Flight Department Accreditations in all four available categories: flight, operations, ground support and infrastructure. In 2023, Gulfstream made the world's first trans-Atlantic flight using 100% SAF in both engines and earlier this year became the first business aviation company to successfully complete a high-altitude flight test campaign demonstrating the potential for 100% neat SAF to reduce contrail-forming particle emissions at altitudes up to 50,000 feet.
