Ascension Sacred Heart Opens New Emergency Department in Pace

Ascension Sacred Heart is delivering a significant upgrade in emergency care available to the residents of Pace, Florida. A ribbon cutting celebration on April 13, 2026 highlighted the opening of a new Freestanding Emergency Department (FSED) in the Five Points area at 5736 Chumuckla Highway.

This state-of-the-art facility brings expanded access to high-quality emergency care, closer to where patients live, work and play. The roughly 11,000-square-foot emergency room will include two triage areas, one trauma room, ten treatment spaces, an onsite lab, CT, X-ray and ultrasound capabilities. Over 40 associates will work at the new care site.

Members of the Pace Chamber of Commerce, Greater Pensacola Chamber of Commerce and other dignitaries, including State Representative Michelle Salzman, attended the ribbon cutting event along with Ascension Sacred Heart leadership.

"This addition ensures those who live in Pace and surrounding communities in Santa Rosa County get the timely and quality healthcare they need," said Sacred Heart Pensacola President & CEO Will Condon. "With the Pace community growing, it is up to us to meet their medical needs and grow with them."

"If you have a stroke, heart attack, or any trauma, we have the capacity to take care of you here," said Dr. Jay Nichols, Department Chairman of Emergency Services for Ascension Sacred Heart. "The same level of service and the same physicians you expect at our Level I Trauma Center in Pensacola will be the providers working here. That makes a difference when it comes to acute care."

The new Pace FSED provides faster access to high-level emergency care for a community located roughly 14 miles from Ascension Sacred Heart Hospital in Pensacola. The new FSED continues the ministry's legacy of delivering medical services in the Pace community that began 28 years ago. From our initial Primary Care office in 1988 to the Pace Medical Park on U.S. 90, each development reflects our dedication to serving the growing healthcare needs of the area.

The facility is Sacred Heart's fourth FSED in the Pensacola area, joining locations in northwest Pensacola (1501 W 9 Mile Rd), Navarre (7334 Navarre Pkwy), and Perdido Key (13139 Sorrento Road).

The facility will be operated jointly by Sacred Heart Pensacola and Studer Family Children's Hospital at Ascension Sacred Heart.

Sacred Heart Pensacola Hospital has the region's only Level I Trauma Center. Studer Family Children's Hospital is the sole children's hospital in the region and Northwest Florida's only Level I Pediatric Trauma Center.
