Recording now available: January 2026 Lens webinar featuring Dr. Margaret Price

If you were unable to attend the January 2026 Lens Webinar-or would like to revisit the conversation-the full recording is now available.

The January Lens Webinar Series featured Dr. Margaret Price, who explored how language, identity, and accessibility intersect in everyday communication. The webinar was held from noon to 1 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 29, 2026.

During her presentation, Price examined critical and timely questions, including:

  • What is the "right" way to talk about disability?
  • Which terms are current, and which should be retired?
  • How can we respectfully learn what language a friend, colleague, or student prefers?
  • Are common idioms like "See you later!" or "take a walk" appropriate in all contexts?

Drawing on more than 30 years of experience as a disability-studies researcher and as a disabled person (or "person with disabilities"-she expresses no preference), Dr. Price offered practical, field-informed insights for fostering more thoughtful, inclusive, and accessible interactions in professional and personal settings.

About the presenter

Dr. Margaret Price is Professor of English (Writing, Rhetoric & Literacy) at The Ohio State University, where she also serves as Director of the Disability Studies Program and co-founder of the Transformative Access Project.
