Purple Day – Prince Tribute returns
Purple Day - Prince Tribute returns to Sounds of Lewisville on Tuesday, June 23, in Wayne Ferguson Plaza, 150 W. Church Street.
Purple Day, curated by RC & The Gritz, is more of an eclectic super-group than your average hip-hop band. Led by Grammy Award winner RC Williams, the group may be best known by some as Erykah Badu's band. They've been a big hit at Sounds of Lewisville over the last few years, performing a wide variety of Prince hits and timeless classics and are ready to bring the rock and the funk again this year.
La Bell is the opening act. La Bell is a Dallas-based Hip Hop and R&B artist and DJ for KXT Radio. Her soulful sound and vibrant personality speaks through her music as boldly as her passion for creating change in her community. Considered a "Change Maker" by NBC LX, La Bell has made appearances on KERA and has been featured in The Dallas Observer. Her vocal and production talents garnered Grammy consideration for her song, "Groove Theory" in 2022.
Sunny Disposition is the opening act for this concert.
The concert starts at 7 p.m. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs for their comfort. Well-behaved pets on a leash are allowed at the shows. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. Smoking and vaping are prohibited in Wayne Ferguson Plaza.
The award-winning Wayne Ferguson Plaza is a 1.5-acre urban park that takes on a contemporary sweeping gesture using water to link east to west and unites Lewisville City Hall and Lewisville Grand Theater. It features an elevated stage, a multi-level seating area, an interactive splash pad and a garden filled with swathes of native grasses and wildflowers.
To reach the concert site from Interstate 35E, take exit 452 and proceed east on Main Street to Charles Street. Lewisville Grand Theater will be on the left. Free public parking is available along Main and Charles streets, or at Lewisville City Hall. Please be aware that there is heavy road construction at the Main Street interchange with I-35E that will cause delays.
