Gilbert Hosts Two Open Houses on Proposed Utility Rate Changes

Gilbert, Ariz. - The Town of Gilbert is hosting two open house events to provide residents with information on the proposed 2026 water and solid waste & recycling rates increases that are currently being assessed by the Town Council and Public Works staff.

During these events, you'll have an opportunity to have two-way dialogue with council members and Town staff. Experts from Water, Solid Waste & Recycling, Water Conservation, Utility Billing, and Budget and Finance will also be available to answer your questions before Council votes on February 17, 2026.

Open House Details:

  • Monday, February 2, 2026 - 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM

  • Thursday, February 12, 2026 - 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM

  • Location: Gilbert Town Hall - 50 E. Civic Center Drive, Gilbert, AZ 85296

Why It Matters

Gilbert's utility rates fund critical infrastructure and water supply projects to provide safe and reliable water services as Colorado River allocations decline. The Town has mitigated or reprioritized $239 million in projects to limit customer impacts. Without these changes, rates would be approximately 55% higher today.

Proposed rate changes include:

Water Rates:

  • Option A: 25% increase in April 2026, no increase in 2027
  • Option E: 14% increase in April 2026 and 14% in 2027

Solid Waste & Recycling:

  • 2% increase for residential customers (less than $0.60 per month)

  • 20% increase for commercial customers, varying by service type

Town Council will review and vote on these options at the February 17, 2026, council meeting at 6:30 PM. If approved, new rates would take effect on the April 2026 utility bills.
