Palm Beach County Activates Emergency Operations Center in Response to Flooding and Plane Crash

Contact: Emergency Operations Center • 561-662-7549

The Palm Beach County Emergency Operations Center (EOC) was activated Sunday afternoon in response to a private aircraft crash. The EOC is at a Level 2 activation which is considered a partial activation. Widespread flooding is also occurring throughout the county, hence the EOC will stay activated at a Level 2. Also, in regard to both incidents a State of Local Emergency was declared on November 1.

On November 1, an aircraft crashed in unincorporated Palm Beach County. The crash caused fires, debris and damage to property and infrastructure, creating potentially hazardous conditions for the surrounding community. Portions of Military Trail have been closed, and emergency operations included evacuations, medical response, debris removal and infrastructure restoration.

Palm Beach County has also experienced significant flooding as a result of recent heavy rainfall, creating hazardous conditions affecting roadways, public infrastructure, residential and commercial properties, and access to essential services. The flooding continues to pose a threat to the health and safety of residents and visitors and may require emergency response operations, drainage and water management activities, and the deployment of County personnel, equipment and resources to address impacted areas and protect life and property.

Palm Beach County will continue to release information as needed on both incidents.
