LIBRARY BOOK MATCH

The Chula Vista Public Library has launched Book Match, a free personalized reading recommendation service for library cardholders. By filling out a short online survey, participants receive a list of curated book suggestions tailored to their interests, all selected by library staff at no cost.

The program is available year-round at all three Chula Vista Public Library branches: Civic Center, South Chula Vista and Otay Ranch Town Center.

"One of our goals as a library is to encourage a love of reading," said Mara Cabrera, senior librarian. "With our new Book Match program, we hope to help everyone, whether they're avid readers or just getting started, find books that feel right for them."

Book Match is a reader's advisory service offering customized reading lists. Users complete a brief questionnaire, and library staff respond with a personalized list of book recommendations based on their preferences. The service is open to anyone with a Chula Vista Public Library card.

If the library doesn't have an exact match, community members are also encouraged to take advantage of the library's Zip Books program, a free alternative to traditional interlibrary loan. Zip Books allows users to request titles not owned by the library, which are shipped directly to their homes via Amazon Prime. After reading, users return the items to any library accounts desk.
