New online course: 'Young Children in an AI-Enabled World'
The School of Education is offering a new fully online course this fall - EDEC A190-803, "Young Children in an AI-Enabled World" (CRN 76693), taught by Dean Tonia Dousay.
Ask a preschooler to sort a doll, a smart speaker, a houseplant, a robot vacuum, and a rabbit into 'alive' and 'not alive.' What she says next is the reason this course exists.
Students take apart an app built for education and find out who's collecting what, design an AI literacy activity that needs no screen, and write an AI use policy an early learning program could actually adopt. The course requires students to use AI tools, available through their UA accounts at no cost.
Three credits, fully asynchronous, no set meeting times. Aug. 24 through Dec. 5. Designed for early childhood students and anyone who works with young children.
