Public safety is a top priority for our city, and it is the core mission of the Tempe Police Department. We are committed to protecting the safety, rights, and dignity of every person in our community.
The Tempe Police Department routinely collaborates with federal, state, and local law-enforcement partners on matters that impact community safety and security. These partnerships are limited to criminal justice and public safety responsibilities.
The Tempe Police Department does not conduct immigration enforcement activities and does not participate in joint immigration operations. Our role remains focused on enforcing local and state laws and ensuring the well-being of all community members. While we do not take part in federal immigration investigations, we will respond to any incident in a way that prioritizes the safety of residents, visitors, and all law-enforcement personnel present.
Tempe police officers are required to clearly identify themselves while performing their duties. All officers have visible Tempe Police Department identifiers while conducting enforcement activities. Our officers do not wear masks to conceal their faces during enforcement operations. This is essential to maintaining transparency and public trust.
If you encounter someone claiming to be one of our officers and have concerns about their identity, please call 911 if the situation is happening now. For less urgent concerns, please contact our non-emergency line at 480-350-8311.
The Tempe Police Department remains committed to serving our community with professionalism, compassion, and excellence. Our department will continue to communicate openly about our role while carrying out our responsibilities in a manner consistent with the law and our policies. The City of Tempe will steadfastly protect our community, its rights and our spirit of inclusion.
