The National Weather Service is forecasting that a major storm will impact the City of Los Angeles beginning as early as this evening Monday , October 13th through Wednesday, October 15th.

Four - six hours of rain is likely with the coasts/valleys receiving up to 1.5 inches and the foothills/mountains up to 3.5 inches. Additionally, winds of 40-55 mph are anticipated.

There is a chance (10 - 20%) of significant flash flooding/debris flows across recent burn scars.

All residents who live in flood prone areas or near a recent burn scar are encouraged to take storm preparedness steps necessary to protect themselves from injury and their property from storm damage . Impacts in the area could include power outages, debris flows, and flooding both in rapidly rising creeks and streams and in roads and freeways.

The City of Los Angeles issued an "Evacuation Warning" for multiple zones in the Palisades, Hurst and Sunset Fire areas. The zones are also available on the Genasys Protect map also linked at the top of this page.

The Los Angeles Police Department will visit each high risk home with additional information.

Your Los Angeles City Fire Department augmented staffing will go into effect at 6PM tonight with the below resources prepositioned to strategically selected areas:

• One Type 3 Strike Team (five fire engines and one battalion commander)

• One Urban Search & Rescue Company (5 members)

• One Type 1 Dozer and one Loader (5 members)

• One Swift Water Team (16 members)

• One Type 2 Helicopter with crew (3 members)

• Two Metropolitan Fire Communications Dispatchers

• One Type II Handcrew (27 members)
