Berlin, October 21, 2025 - A peek behind the curtain: Today, the trailer for the new Netflix documentary Babo: The Haftbefehl Story by directors Juan Moreno and Sinan Sevinç and producers Elyas M'Barek and Pacco-Luca Nitsche from 27KM'B Pictures was released. The film is an authentic and at the same time sensitive portrayal of one of the most influential German rappers of our time - Haftbefehl .
The trailer shows what makes the documentary special: uncompromising honesty and emotional depth. Between fame and retreat, stage and street, success and self-doubt, Babo: The Haftbefehl Story sheds light on Aykut Anhan as a person and tells the story of an artist who never stopped searching for truth and identity.
That was also the aspiration of directors Juan Moreno and Sinan Sevinç. 'The goal was truthfulness. An image that doesn't rely on masks, but on bare skin that not only shines, but also bleeds, ' says Moreno. ' For us, authenticity was the first priority - even if it sometimes got painful, ' adds Sevinç.
Even before filming began, producers Elyas M'Barek and Pacco-Luca Nitsche knew that this film would be more than just a classic artist portrait. ' We knew that Haftbefehl's story had a lot to offer, but we didn't know how powerful it would turn out, ' says M'Barek. ' We created something real and are glad we went down this path; we are grateful for Aykut's honesty and authenticity .'
BABO: THE HAFTBEFEHL STORY starts October 28. 2025 worldwide on Netflix.
About Babo: The Haftbefehl Story
Because of his uncompromising authenticity, the career of Offenbach-born Aykut Anhan - aka Haftbefehl - reached unexpected heights. His music carries the rawness of his youth: poverty, crime, drugs, and violence were ever-present, flowing unfiltered into his lyrics.
The documentary Babo: The Haftbefehl Story takes viewers deep into the world of Aykut Anhan, the man behind the artist persona Haftbefehl. It traces his rise to an icon, peels back the glittering façade of show business, and reveals a layered portrait of a man locked in a constant struggle with the demons of his past and present. Far from the clichés of street rap glorifying drugs or violence, the film uses powerful imagery to show how his childhood trauma has gradually pushed him towards the edge.
Directed by Juan Moreno and Sinan Sevinç. Produced by Elyas M'Barek and Pacco-Luca Nitsche for their production company 27 KM'B Pictures.
Exclusively and worldwide on Netflix from October 28
