Meeting of Highest Administrative Officials of SCO, CSTO and CIS

On September 3, 2025, in Beijing, consultations were held between the senior officials of the executive bodies of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), and the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). The delegations were headed by SCO Secretary-General Nurlan Yermekbayev, CSTO Secretary-General Imangali Tasmagambetov, and CIS Secretary-General Sergei Lebedev.

The state and prospects of trilateral cooperation were thoroughly discussed, and there was an exchange of views on current issues of the international and regional agendas. It was noted that the three organizations share common goals: strengthening peace, stability, and security in their respective regions of activity, and developing mutually beneficial practical cooperation.

The SCO Secretary-General informed his counterparts about the results of the SCO Heads of State Council meeting held on September 1, 2025, in Tianjin, China. In accordance with the mandate of the leaders of the member states, N. Yermekbayev handed S. Lebedev a letter addressed to the Chairman of the CIS Heads of State Council, President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, regarding the SCO's application to acquire observer status in the Commonwealth.

Following the discussions, the Secretaries-General approved the Roadmap for the development of cooperation between the SCO, CSTO, and CIS, and adopted a Joint Statement on the occasion of the 80th anniversary of the end of World War II and the establishment of the United Nations.
