Vindman Joins More Than 110 House Democrats Demanding ICE Accountability and Secretary Kristi Noem’s Impeachment

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Eugene Vindman (Va.-07) today released the following statement after backing a resolution to impeach Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Kristi Noem. Vindman joined this effort following the brutal, preventable murders of Alex Pretti and Renee Good at the hands of federal agents.

"Given my integral role in President Trump's first Impeachment, I take Impeachment very seriously. I continue to believe it should be a last resort, but the heinous killings we've witnessed in Minneapolis demand accountability and that means impeaching Secretary Noem.

"The tragic killings of Renée Good and Alex Pretti by federal, paramilitary agents in Minneapolis make clear that Noem has violated the public trust by directing federal agents to make widespread warrantless arrests, forgo due process, and use violence against American citizens.

"Her removal from office is both urgent and necessary. Her actions and statements have disregarded the law and fueled fear and violence in communities that deserve safety and respect. Under her leadership, federal agents have been responsible for violating Americans inalienable, Constitutional rights.

"Secretary Noem's willful misconduct, violations of the law, and abuse of power demonstrate a failure of leadership at the highest levels of the Department of Homeland Security. To this point, Republicans in Congress have refused to investigate, leading to the only available measure: Impeachment. To restore accountability at DHS and to protect communities across our Commonwealth and our country, Secretary Noem must be removed."
