USAA Prepares Financial Assistance To Serve Members Impacted By Potential Government Shutdown

No-interest loan and payment relief options among the benefits that eligible members can access

SAN ANTONIO - Ahead of a possible government shutdown on October 1st, USAA stands ready to serve affected members with a financial assistance program to help them navigate potential disruptions to pay and continue ensuring their financial security.

Members who are employed by an impacted federal agency and have received an eligible direct deposit into a USAA checking or savings account within 30 days prior to the beginning of the shutdown will be able to apply for a no-interest loan equal to the amount of one net paycheck, up to $6,000. Members may also be eligible for a variety of payment relief offers across USAA banking and insurance products.

"We have an unwavering commitment to ensure the financial security of our members and this program is part of that value that we deliver every day," said Michael Moran, President, USAA Federal Savings Bank. "Members trust USAA because they can count on us to stand by them through life's unexpected moments, and exceptional service means meeting them with offerings like this to give them additional peace of mind."

USAA will proactively notify members when loan applications and financial assistance programs are made available, if and when a government shutdown becomes imminent. Once available, applications can be easily completed on the USAA app, USAA.com, and over the phone.
