Families USA Statement for the Record for the Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee Hearing on the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule and Payment Reform

Today, Families USA submitted a statement for the record ahead of the Energy and Commerce Health Subcommittee hearing on "Examining the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule, MACRA, and Opportunities for Payment Reforms." The statement recommends that the Committee should advance reforms that both immediately address the most egregious flaws in the Medicare physician payment system and build a strong foundation for longer-term pathways to true accountability for the cost and quality of care and the health of families and patients.

Families USA's statement urges lawmakers to take meaningful action to move away from the flawed fee-for-service pricing model that currently serves as the basis for Medicare payment through the Medicare Physician Fee Schedule (MPFS) to a system that prioritizes high-quality care focused on patients.
