ATLANTA (January 26, 2026) - Organizers of HOA, COA, and POA Day at the Capitol announced today that the advocacy event scheduled for January 27, 2026, has been postponed due to weather conditions and out of an abundance of caution to ensure the safety of the public, participants, elected officials and staff.
The event will be rescheduled for Tuesday, February 10, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. in Room 125 of the State Capitol. Additional details will be shared with the public and media closer to the date.
The decision to postpone was made to prioritize safety while maintaining the integrity and purpose of the Day at the Capitol, which is centered on elevating homeowner voices and advancing thoughtful discussion around issues impacting HOA, COA, and POA communities across Georgia.
"Public safety must always come first," said Rep. Viola Davis (D-Stone Mountain). "HOA, COA, and POA Day at the Capitol is about listening to homeowners and creating space for meaningful civic engagement. We remain fully committed to rescheduling this event and ensuring it takes place in a safe, accessible environment for everyone."
HOA, COA, and POA Day at the Capitol is intended to bring together homeowners, residents, association members, advocates and policymakers to discuss critical issues affecting homeownership, including transparency, accountability, affordability and due process in association-governed communities.
"Ensuring the safety of our constituents and staff is always our top priority," said Rep. Sandra G. Scott (D-Rex). "Postponing this event allows us to bring people together under conditions that support meaningful participation, thoughtful dialogue and respectful exchange."
"Our commitment to listening to homeowners has not changed," said Rep. Kim Schofield (D-Atlanta). "We look forward to rescheduling HOA, COA, and POA Day at the Capitol so constituents can safely engage with lawmakers on issues that directly affect their homes and communities."
Sen. Donzella James (D-Atlanta), who has long championed homeowner protections and sponsored multiple pieces of HOA-related legislation, emphasized that the work will continue despite the postponement.
"This postponement is about safety, not delay in purpose," Sen. James said. "I remain deeply committed to hearing directly from homeowners and advancing legislation that improves transparency, fairness, and protections for people living in HOA, COA, and POA communities. We will reschedule and continue this important dialogue."
During the 2025 Legislative Session, Sen. James sponsored Senate Bills 106, 107, and 108, which focus on improving community association practices, providing protections for association members and offering alternatives to costly legal disputes. These legislative efforts remain a key part of the ongoing conversation surrounding homeowner rights in Georgia.
Community members are encouraged to monitor future announcements and updated materials, including revised graphics, as details become available.
