HANNIBAL - Following a single-lane restriction, eastbound I-70 at MM 196.6, near Stracks Church Road in Warren County, has reopened to two lanes. Additional modifications were made to the work zone and the area will continue to be monitored.
Crews will be working to install signage next week as the speed limit will be further reduced to 55 mph through the work zone from Warrenton (MM 193) to the Route A interchange (MM 211). The speed limit reduction will go into effect as soon as sign work is completed.
Motorists can expect traffic delays in the area and are encouraged to seek alternate routes, if possible, and allow for extra time. For updates, please refer to the Traveler Information Map. Please remember to obey all work zone signs and personnel. All work zones and traffic impacts are online at www.modot.org/northeast.
This work is part of the Improve I-70 Warrenton to Wentzville Project covering the eastern portion of I-70. It was awarded in November 2024. Construction is set to continue through 2028.
Missouri's FY2024 budget, approved through the state legislative process and signed into law by the governor, provides $2.8 billion in General Revenue to build a third lane of I-70 across the state. The program will plan, design, construct, reconstruct, rehabilitate, and add a third lane in each direction on nearly 200 miles of I-70, from Blue Springs to Wentzville.
