Facebook Statement by Prime Minister Viktor Orbán

I'm putting the finishing touches to the government decree regarding the supplementary pension increase for November 2025. Inflation turned out to be higher than predicted, and in such cases our practice is to raise pensions: accurate accounting means long friendship. We promised that pensions wouldn't lose their value, and we've kept that promise every year; this year will be no different. Every pensioner will receive what is due, by the end of the year, and hopefully already in November; everyone will get the appropriate amount corresponding to their pension, which on average means an extra 51,000 forints. That's really something! All across Europe they're cutting back: when it comes time to pay, they're grinding their teeth, because they've sent their money to Ukraine. If your money's in Ukraine, then you can't raise pensions, and you can't help families or young people either. But we haven't allowed Hungarian money to be sent to Ukraine, and so now we can increase family support, launch a housing programme for young people, and also ensure that pensioners will receive what they're entitled to. Moreover, today is the Day for Older Persons. God bless our pensioners!
