Prague - Open Source Summit Europe - October 7th, 2026 - The Cloud Native Computing Foundation® (CNCF®), which builds sustainable ecosystems for cloud native software, today announced that OVHcloud has upgraded to a Platinum Member, extending its role in the open source community as cloud native and AI infrastructure increasingly converge toward shared, vendor-neutral standards.
As organizations scale cloud native applications and production AI workloads, maintaining infrastructure flexibility across public, private, and hybrid environments has become a critical operational priority. Demand for vendor-neutral options continues to accelerate alongside global requirements for cloud sovereignty, with Gartner forecasting European sovereign cloud spending alone to reach $12.6 billion in 2026. OVHcloud's Platinum investment reinforces a shared commitment to developing open standards and preserving customer choice.
"OVHcloud has had a longstanding commitment to open infrastructure, from its early adoption of OpenStack to its work contributing to Harbor and operating Cilium at scale," said Jonathan Bryce, executive director, CNCF. "We're proud to welcome OVHcloud as a Platinum Member and look forward to their continued role in the community."
OVHcloud's upgrade builds on its track record of upstream engineering and open infrastructure operations. The company has used OpenStack since 2012 and joined the OpenStack Foundation in 2014. In 2020, OVHcloud engineers contributed an independently developed Kubernetes Operator to Harbor, a CNCF-graduated open source registry for container images and other OCI artifacts, and joined as maintainers to bring Kubernetes-native lifecycle management to the project.
In March 2026, OVHcloud's AI Deploy and Managed Kubernetes Service were approved through CNCF's Kubernetes AI Conformance Program that defines a shared, community-developed baseline for reliably running AI and machine learning workloads on Kubernetes. Today, OVHcloud's Managed Kubernetes Service runs thousands of production clusters across 20 public-cloud regions on Kubernetes and Cilium, scaling Cilium for multi-tenant networking, observability, and security.
"Independence in technology does not mean building everything alone. It means having the freedom to build on open standards, contribute to the technologies you rely on, and avoid being locked into a single ecosystem. This is why open source has always been fundamental to OVHcloud, from OpenStack to Kubernetes and now AI infrastructure. Becoming a CNCF Platinum Member takes this commitment further: we want to help shape the open technologies, AI and governance that give companies more choice and more freedom to build" - Octave Klaba, CEO and Founder, OVHcloud.
