On 25 August 2026, within the framework of World Water Week in Stockholm, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Tajikistan Sanoi Boyzoda participated in and delivered remarks at the event entitled "Connecting the 2023, 2026 and 2028 UN Water Conferences."
In his remarks, Sanoi Boyzoda emphasized that the 2023, 2026 and 2028 UN Water Conferences should be viewed as a single and continuous global process. He stressed that this process should move from making commitments to their practical implementation, and from implementation to concrete and measurable results. In this context, it was noted that the 2026 UN Water Conference in Abu Dhabi should help accelerate the implementation of the Water Action Agenda through increased financing, the use of technologies, stronger partnerships and enhanced accountability.
It was also noted that the 2028 UN Water Conference in Dushanbe should not only take stock of the results of the International Decade for Action "Water for Sustainable Development", 2018-2028, but also lay the groundwork for defining the future direction of the global water agenda beyond 2030.
In this regard, reference was made to the initiative of the President of the Republic of Tajikistan, Leader of the Nation H.E. Emomali Rahmon, on the Dushanbe Water Framework. The initiative aims to ensure greater continuity and coherence among international water processes, while strengthening practical cooperation to support the implementation of commitments and the achievement of concrete results.
