Council on Aging Extends Programming at Russell Youth and Community Center

In response to community feedback and participation, the Cambridge Council on Aging will continue to offer programming for Cambridge adults age 60 and older at the Russell Youth and Community Center, 680 Huron Ave.

The current program schedule will pause for two weeks after Friday, January 16. Through the end of the month, older adults are invited to join the Council on Aging and History Cambridge at two workshops exploring personal and community history hosted at the Russell Youth and Community Center:

Registration is not required for the workshops. Residents are welcome to join one or both.

Beginning on Thursday, February 5, the programming schedule will resume through the end of May. During this time, the Council on Aging will also offer drop-in walking hours on Fridays, where older adults can use the Russell Youth and Community Center gym to exercise in a safe indoor environment.

Program Schedule (February 5 - May 29, 2026)

Thursday Friday
9 - 10 a.m. Tai Chi Dance
10 - 11:30 a.m. Portrait Drawing

Knitting Group
(drop-in through 12 p.m.)

10:30 - 11:30 a.m. Yoga

Indoor Walking
(drop-in through 12 p.m.)

All classes are held on the 2nd floor of the Russell Youth and Community Center. Older adults are also invited to enjoy the Center's Common Area on Thursdays and Fridays from 9 a.m. - 12 p.m.

Programming for older adults at the Russell Youth and Community Center will pause during the summer months (June through August), when the building will host Cambridge Youth Programs' summer programs for pre-teens and middle schoolers.
