ATLANTA - State Representative Bethany Ballard (R-Warner Robins) was appointed by House Speaker Jon Burns (R-Newington) to serve as the chair of the House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Education Performance Metrics and Workforce Stability.
"Many thanks to Speaker Burns for establishing this vital study committee and naming me as its chair," said Rep. Ballard. "Over the next few months, my colleagues and I will conduct an in-depth review of how Georgia evaluates education performance, how we can better support teacher recruitment and retention and ways in which we can improve student outcomes through potential legislative action. A strong education system is one of the greatest investments we can make in Georgia's future, and I look forward to engaging with experts and stakeholders on this important work this year."
The House Blue-Ribbon Study Committee on Education Performance Metrics and Workforce Stability will evaluate Georgia's education evaluation measures to strengthen accountability, improve student success and strengthen teacher recruitment and retention.
Speaker Burns also appointed the following study committee members: State Representatives Carmen Rice (R-Columbus), Sandy Donatucci (R-Buford), Chuck Martin (R-Alpharetta), Phil Olaleye (D-Atlanta), Karen Lupton (D-Chamblee), Omari Crawford (D-Decatur), Scott Hilton (R-Peachtree Corners), Deborah Silcox (R-Sandy Springs) and Leesa Hagan (R-Lyons).

Representative Bethany Ballard represents the citizens of District 147, which includes portions of Houston and Peach counties. She first was elected to the House of Representatives in 2022 and currently serves as Vice Chairman of the Special Rules Committee. She also serves on the Appropriations, Appropriations Subcommittee on Judicial, Defense & Veterans Affairs and Education committees.
