City of Yuma Road Report, August 27

City Projects

Gila Street, 3rd Street
Crews will be site fencing Gila Street and 3rd Street for the Hotel Del Sol Project. 3rd Street will be closed from Gila Street to Maiden Street, and Gila Street will be closed from Giss Parkway to 3rd Street. Drivers are advised to follow posted traffic control signs and use caution in the area. The road closures will be in place for 12 months.

Avenue C, 20thStreet to 24th Street

Beginning June 15, an ADOT contractor will install ADA ramps and a HAWK pedestrian beacon on Avenue C and the Central Drain Pathway. Sidewalks on the north and south sides of the Central Drain will be closed during the project. Intermittent partial lane closures will take place on Avenue C between 20th Street and 24th Street. Motorists are encouraged to follow all traffic control signs and drive safely through the work zone. Work is expected to be completed in September.

Mesquite Avenue, Catalina Drive to Arizona Avenue

Crews will replace a waterline and pavement on Mesquite Avenue between Catalina Drive and Arizona Avenue. Work will also require closures on Coronado Avenue with access for residents. Drivers are advised to follow posted traffic control signs in the area.

City Street Maintenance

City Street Maintenance operations for the week of August 31- September 4 will take place in the following areas.

Street Asphalt Patching:

8th Avenue, 16th Street to 24th Street.

45th Avenue, 16th Street to 20th Street.

Avenue 3E, 24th Street to Gila Ridge Road.

Asphalt Crack Seal:

Saguaro 3 and 4.

Villa Serena 1.

44th Street, Mississippi Avenue to Avenue 8E.

Concrete Sidewalk Repair:

Falls Ranch 1.

Dunes Subdivision.

Alley Maintenance:

19th Avenue to 23rd Avenue, between 3rd Street and 5th Street.

West Main Canal Bike Path Project:

The West Main Canal Bike Path will be closed for maintenance from Avenue A to Magnolia Avenue. Detours will be in place.

Other utility projects and encroachment permits

4th Avenue, 1st Street and Harold C. Giss Parkway (Lumen)

Beginning August 24, crews will perform utility boring and access manholes and handholes at several downtown locations. The project will affect 1st Street from 4th Avenue to 2nd Avenue and Harold C. Giss Parkway near 2nd Avenue. The westbound right lane of 1st Street and the eastbound right lane of Harold C. Giss Parkway will be closed in the work areas. The alley between 3rd Avenue and 4th Avenue will also be closed from 1st Street to Court Street. Pedestrian access along 1st Street will be maintained. Drivers are advised to follow posted traffic control signs and use caution in the area. Work is expected to be completed by late September.

8th Street and Avenue B, Clifford Way to 5th Street (Southwest Gas)

Starting August 3, Southwest Gas contractors will replace a natural gas pipeline along 8th Street and Avenue B between Clifford Way and 5th Street. Traffic restrictions and possible road closures will be in place during the work. Access to businesses and residences will be maintained. Drivers are advised to follow posted traffic control signs in the area. Work is expected to continue through December.

Avenue A, Parkview Loop to Palmcroft Drive (Yuma County)

Starting July 27, Yuma County crews will install stormwater lines for the Smucker Park Detention Basin project. Avenue A will have lane restrictions between Parkview Loop and Palmcroft Drive. Drivers are advised to follow posted traffic control signs and use caution in the area. Work is expected to be completed by early

September West Main Canal Bike Path, Avenue A to Magnolia Avenue (Yuma County Water Users Association)

Starting July 7, Yuma County Water Users Association will begin construction work along the West Main Canal at Avenue A. During the project, the West Main Canal Bike Path will be closed from Avenue A to Magnolia Avenue, and detours will be in place. Path users are advised to use caution and follow posted detour signs in the area. Work is expected to be completed by December.

28th Street, Avenue 4E to Shari Avenue (DPE Construction)

Crews will complete street improvements on 28th Street between Avenue 4E and Shari Avenue, including sewer and water line work, new concrete, asphalt, and striping. Work will require closure of 28th Street in this area. Work is expected to be completed by August.

Routine Maintenance, Tree Trimming, and Survey Work (APS)

APS crews will be conducting routine maintenance, tree trimming, and survey work throughout the year in various locations within the City. Motorists are advised to watch for work zones in unexpected areas and follow all posted traffic control.

Fiber optic installations (Allo)

Communications line installations are taking place in areas designated for utility easements in numerous and various locations within the City limits and surrounding vicinity. Motorists are advised to watch for work zones in unexpected areas.
