Tampa, Fla. (July 05, 2026)- The Tampa Police Department is conducting a homicide investigation following a man's death early Sunday morning.

Shortly after 12:30am, officers responded to the 8400-block of N. Armenia Ave where an adult man who was shot had been driven. He was taken to the hospital where he was later pronounced deceased.

While early in the investigation, detectives believe the shooting happened at the 1800-block of West Waters Ave. The shooter told police a man approached his car and opened the driver's door with a gun, he says he then pulled his own weapon out and shot.

Detectives are continuing to process evidence, review surveillance video, and interview witnesses as they work to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting. The shooter is cooperating with the investigation.
