BOZEMAN - A new episode of "Backroads of Montana" will premiere at 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 15, on Montana PBS.

Longtime producer John Twiggs hosts the episode, "Timeless and True," from Baker, the county seat of Fallon County in eastern Montana. The episode will take viewers to the local fair, dive into the story of the town's lake and provide details about the bovine that made Baker home to the "world's largest steer" in the 1920s.

The episode will also take viewers to Limestone, where the son of a homesteading sheepherder in the Absaroka Range has lived in the shadow of Limestone Butte for 102 years. He and his 97-year-old wife still live independently.

In addition, viewers will visit the town of Carter and follow a man who builds custom-fit cowboy hats, as well as the Yellowstone River just east of Billings to observe Pompeys Pillar, a 120-foot-tall sandstone outcropping that holds the only physical evidence remaining from Lewis and Clark's historic journey more than 200 years ago. And, the episode will revisit the Ninemile Schoolhouse, where an annual tradition of opening the gates and welcoming the public for Christmas cheer endures.

The episode's producers include Twiggs, Breanna McCabe and Anna Rau. The University of Montana Broadcast Media Center produces the program for Montana PBS. Montana PBS is a joint service of Montana State University and UM.

In addition to tuning in on TV, Montanans can watch the broadcast on PBS Passport or online at https://watch.montanapbs.org/livestream. The program will also stream live on Facebook at http:// facebook.com/BackroadsMT. Repeat airings are scheduled for 7:30 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 18; 5 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 20; and 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 21. For a complete program guide, visit https://http://montanapbs.org/schedule.

Now in its 34th year of production, "Backroads of Montana" is supported by the Greater Montana Foundation, a Big Sky Film grant and UM.
