The Office of Human Rights will host a discussion on equal pay from 10:30 a.m. to noon, Tuesday, May 19, in Meeting Room A at the Iowa City Public Library.
This session will examine the history of pay discrimination, identify industries most affected by wage disparities, and outline key state and federal legal protections. Participants will also gain practical strategies for advancing pay equity, with insights tailored for employees, employers, policymakers, and regulators.
The program will be led by Ann Brown, an attorney and graduate of the University of Iowa College of Law with more than 20 years of experience. Brown has represented women in landmark cases before the Iowa Supreme Court under the state's Equal Pay Act and remains an active advocate for fair compensation practices.
This program is approved for 1.5 State Continuing Legal Education (CLE) hours, including 1.5 Diversity hours.
Pre-registration is required. Participants can register by visiting the Eventbrite registration page.
