ROCKVILLE CENTRE, NY - Today, Congresswoman Laura Gillen (NY-04) released the following statement marking two years since the October 7th, 2023 terrorist attack:
"Two years ago on this day, Hamas terrorists invaded Israel and murdered more than 1,200 people, including Long Island's Omer Neutra, and took 250 people hostage. It was the single deadliest day for the Jewish people since the Holocaust. I will never forget visiting Kibbutz Nir Oz and the site of the Nova Music festival where hundreds of innocent young lives were stolen.
"Today, there are still hostages who are being held by Hamas terrorists in Gaza after more than 730 days. I have met with the families of hostages and committed to work to bring their loved ones home. They cannot wait any longer and we must bring them home now. Hamas must accept the U.S.-led peace plan and end the widespread suffering they have caused."
