Mayor Mantello Announces Tentative Agreement on New CSEA Local 1000 Contract
Following Membership Vote Held Yesterday
(TROY, NY) - Mayor Carmella R. Mantello today announced that the City of Troy and CSEA Local 1000 AFSCME, AFL-CIO for the City of Troy Unit of the Rensselaer County Local 842 - have reached a tentative agreement on a new 3-year labor contract following a membership vote held yesterday.
The agreement, which impacts hundreds of City employees who deliver essential services to residents, includes competitive salary increases, improved allowances, and enhanced longevity pay for long-serving employees.
Mayor Mantello said, "Our CSEA members are the backbone of Troy's workforce - from our Quality-of-Life Action Crews who keep our streets safe and clean, to the dedicated professionals in our City Hall offices. They are true assets to our city, providing the services that directly impact the quality of life for every resident. This new contract recognizes their dedication and hard work with fair, competitive wages and benefits while maintaining fiscal responsibility for our taxpayers. I want to thank CSEA leadership and our negotiating team, led by Deputy Mayor Donnelly, Corporation Counsel, and Comptroller's Office for their collaboration in reaching this strong agreement for our employees and the people of Troy."

The new agreement represents the Mantello Administration's continued investment in the City's workforce, ensuring Troy remains competitive in recruiting and retaining talented employees while rewarding the dedication of long-serving public servants.
This new agreement, having previously expired in December of 2024, is the third labor union contract resolved by the Mantello Administration, since taking office in January 2024.
The new, tentative 3-year CSEA Local 1000 contract will be voted on at the October 2nd City Council Meeting for final ratification.
