Don’t miss our Fire Safety Open House!

Free, family-friendly activities tomorrow at Vellore Village Community Centre

Need something fun and educational to do with the family this weekend? Look no further than Vaughan Fire and Rescue Service's second annual Fire Safety Open House!

You're invited to a day of free, family-friendly activities tomorrow, Sunday, Sept. 28, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Vellore Village Community Centre (1 Villa Royale Ave.)!

During the event, you can:

  • check out the Hazard House display

  • indulge in free popcorn

  • learn how to manage cooking fires in the test kitchen

  • participate in a fire hose target practice

  • strike a pose at the photobooth

  • tour a firetruck

  • visit interactive fire safety stations

  • and so much more!

This year's Fire Safety Open House falls on Test Your Smoke Alarm Day. This annual initiative, proclaimed by the City of Vaughan, is led by Ontario's Office of the Fire Marshal to urge residents to test their smoke alarms to make their homes safe. Test Your Smoke Alarm Day was launched to encourage all Canadians to learn more about smoke alarms, fire safety and home fire escape planning. Learn more at savedbythebeep.ca.
