ICYMI: Bresnahan Joins Milford Community for Lighting of the Milford Star

MILFORD, PA: Last week, U.S. Representative Rob Bresnahan, Jr. (PA-08) joined local officials and community leaders in Milford to celebrate the re-lighting of the Milford Star. The Milford Star, located in the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area, was first lit in 1930 and remained a cherished local landmark until it was removed in 2017. Following outreach from residents, Rep. Bresnahan made restoring the landmark a priority, working with community groups and federal officials to help bring the project across the finish line. On July 3, 2026, the Milford Star was officially re-lit, just one day before America's 250th birthday.

"The Milford Star has been a treasured symbol of home and community for generations of Pike County families," said Rep. Bresnahan. "It has long been a marker of holidays and celebrations, so it's fitting to see it shine again as we celebrate America's 250th birthday. From elected officials to the National Parks Service to community groups, the local advocacy made this possible. Local priorities like the Star matter, and they're what I'm most proud to fight for in D.C."

Rep. Bresnahan joined Pike County Commissioner Matt Osterberg and Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area Superintendent Eamon Leighty for a trip up to the Star prior to the re-lighting. The re-lighting was commemorated with speeches from community members and advocates.
