Twardzik, Argall Announce More Than $480,000 for Water and Sewer Projects in Central Schuylkill County

HARRISBURG - Rep. Tim Twardzik (R-123) and Sen. Dave Argall (R-29) today announced more than $480,000 in state grants were awarded to infrastructure projects in central Schuylkill County from the PA Small Water and Sewer Program.

"Investing in water and sewer infrastructure is a responsible use of public dollars that protects public health and strengthens our communities," said Twardzik. "Projects like these ensure our neighbors have reliable systems not just for today but for generations to come."

"Improved water infrastructure is very much needed in so many of our communities," said Argall. "These highly competitive state funds are very important."

The following projects were awarded funding:

  • Blythe Township Municipal Authority - $218,334 to replace the Llewellyn water transmission line in Branch Township.
  • Minersville Municipal Authority - $270,000 to replace the New Castle Street waterline.

The PA Small Water and Sewer program awards funding to municipalities and municipal authorities for water, sewer, storm water and flood control projects. The funding was approved by the Commonwealth Financing Authority, an independent agency of the Pennsylvania Department of Community and Economic Development which administers many of Pennsylvania's economic development and community improvement programs.
