Cami, Wildlife Enthusiast, Honored as 2026 Jr. Ranger Champion

RESTON, Va. - Following weeks of adventures in nature and outpourings of community spirit, the 2026 Jr. Ranger Competition has named its champion, Cami. Along with her $20,000 prize, Cami will appear in an upcoming issue of Ranger Rick, the beloved children's magazine published by the National Wildlife Federation that has inspired a love of wildlife in kids since 1967.

"Children and families discovering wildlife should be front page news," said Talia Walsh, vice president for Ranger Rick at the National Wildlife Federation. "Ranger Rick magazine has been telling these stories for decades, and this year, more than 79,000 kids showed us that love for nature is alive and well. They shared their favorite animals, their dreams of becoming scientists, vets, and conservationists, their family trips and outdoor adventures close to home. Right in front of us, we're watching a curious new generation deepen their understanding of the natural world - and we are proud beyond words. Thank you to Cami, Jeff Corwin, Colossal, and every family, community, and kid who made this possible."

"We are deeply grateful to everyone who participated and cheered on the Jr. Rangers - this award belongs to all of them, and each contribution was a vote for wildlife and wild places," said Krista Newberry, head of licensing and partnerships at the National Wildlife Federation. "These generous donations support National Wildlife Federation programs that connect millions of children to nature - from hands-on environmental education to outdoor learning experiences that inspire the next generation of conservationists."

The competition champion, Cami, is a passionate nature enthusiast with a special love for animals, especially birds and dinosaurs. She enjoys horseback riding, birdwatching, and exploring zoos and nature parks. Her curiosity, compassion, and dedication to animal welfare inspire her lifelong love of learning.

Hosted by Emmy-winning wildlife expert Jeff Corwin and powered by Colossal, the nation's leading professional fundraiser, the 2025 Jr. Ranger campaign raised $5.4 million for the National Wildlife Federation's conservation mission.

"This competition is about empowering young people who are passionate about making a difference while creating meaningful impact for conservation," said Mary Hagen, CEO of Colossal. "We're incredibly grateful to every participant, supporter, and voter. Together, we're investing in the next generation of environmental leaders while supporting the important work of protecting wildlife and the habitats they call home."
